What the Job Involves

The Assessment Officer is responsible for assessing and supporting vulnerable and disabled people in the community to maximize their potential independence. Reporting to the Team Manager, you will work collaboratively with various directorates within the Council, health services, housing services, and voluntary organizations. You will carry out assessments, support planning, and reviews, ensuring all practices align with the Council's policies and legislative framework. Your role involves managing a caseload, implementing service improvements, maintaining records, and safeguarding individuals from abuse and neglect. You will also recommend relevant equipment and adaptations, maintain quality assurance, and contribute to service development plans.

Skills

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience with vulnerable groups
  • Knowledge of legislation related to disability and community care
  • Understanding of disabilities and assessment systems
  • Experience in the adaptation process and equipment knowledge
  • Proficiency in budgeting and financial processes
  • Specialist knowledge of manual handling techniques and equipment
  • Strong ICT skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Ability to work in partnership with professionals and volunteers
  • Adherence to health and safety standards
